Verifying your account

Roblox OAuth + Discord OAuth in two clicks. No bio edits, no token games.

What verification gets you

Verifying does three things:

  • Removes the Unverified role and grants Verified, unlocking every player-facing command.
  • Links your Discord account to a Roblox account so PD/EMS/Fire records, paychecks, and bounties all attach to the right person in-game.
  • Caches your Roblox username so the bot can keep your Discord nickname in sync.

You only have to do it once.

How the flow works

  1. Click Verify in the #verify channel. The bot DMs you a one-time link with a 15-minute expiration.
  2. The link opens our verification page on verify.tnrp.net. You'll see a Cloudflare Turnstile challenge first — pass that, then click Continue with Roblox.
  3. You're sent to Roblox's official OAuth page. Sign in, approve the basic profile scope. Roblox sends you back to our site with a code we exchange for proof of ownership.
  4. Same thing for Discord: click Connect to Tennessee, approve the identify and guilds.join scopes. The Discord scope lets us add you to sister servers later without re-verifying.
  5. The site posts a signed payload back to the bot. The bot swaps your role, DMs you a confirmation with your linked Roblox profile, and you're done.

The whole thing takes under a minute.

What we store

Only what we need:

  • Your Discord ID (we already had this)
  • Your Roblox ID, username, and display name
  • Encrypted refresh tokens so we can re-fetch your username later if you change it on Roblox

No passwords. No private profile data. No friend lists. The OAuth scopes we ask for are the smallest ones that give us the username and the ability to add you to other Tennessee Discords.

If something goes wrong

  • "Token expired" — the link is good for 15 minutes. Click Verify again.
  • "Account already linked" — your Roblox account is already verified to a different Discord. Open a ticket and staff can move it.
  • "Couldn't reach the bot" — server hiccup. Wait 30 seconds and retry. If it persists, post in #help.

Privacy

You can revoke at any time by running /unverify in Discord. We delete the Roblox link and the refresh tokens immediately and remove the verified role.
